Some of us are blessed with amazing hair. Others have amazing figures. Since my superpower is having ultra-long eyelashes I have been obsessed with using mascara. Having said that, I have tried just about every mascara product you can imagine. It’s important to consider how you would like your eyelashes to appear when choosing mascara. Many of my friends want just a bit more length, but I like thick mascara.
For the best possible look, apply primer before applying mascara. It’s not necessary to spend a lot of money on primer. There is no difference in primers from drugstores and higher-end cosmetic companies. There is also little difference in mascaras that cost $10 and those that are $30. In order to help you find the best mascaras for a low budget, I have compiled a list of our favorite picks. These products were either featured before on our website, highly rated on Drugstore.com or I personally used them.
The Best Mascara for a Budget
1. Maybelline Great Lashed Washable Mascara in Very Black
Why it’s Awesome The most popular mascara is Maybelline Great Lash. You can keep one at your work desk and another in your purse because it is so inexpensive. It is also hypoallergenic, which is great for people with sensitive eyes.
2. JK Jemma Kidd ultra plush mascara (with bonus I-tech glitter liner)
Why it’s awesome: Do you like when Target introduces high-end designer? For $10, you get a great mascara and glitter eyeliner. This mascara is known to lengthen and thicken hair. It also comes in a compact, convenient case.
3. L’Oreal Original Volume Mascara Voluminous
I love this mascara. You can find it at a reasonable price and often with coupons (we love coupons). The mascara will make your eyelashes look thicker than ever. The mascara dries fast, thus minimizing smudging.
4. Sephora Collection Triple Action Mascara
It is Awesome: When we saw it on sale, (please don’t discontinue, Sephora) we knew that we needed to highlight it. The product works wonders for your lashes by both plumping and extending them. The brush is great and separates the lashes for a full eye effect.
5. Rimmel Lycra Lash Extender
What makes it awesome: This mascara is made with Lycra and helps achieve that curvy shape you’re looking for. This mascara is also great for those with sensitive eyes or who wear contact lenses.
